INGOLSTADT, Germany, Dec 1, 2010 - Once again, Audi sets the standard: The new A6 will arrive at dealerships in early 2011. The successor to the world’s most successful executive sedan features groundbreaking solutions in every area of technology. An intelligent combination of materials renders the body unusually light; operation is easy, despite a wealth of functionality; and the range of assistance and multimedia systems is extensive. The new A6 series starts with five powerplants generating between 130 kW (177 hp) and 220 kW (300 hp) of output: two gasoline engines and three TDI units. The Audi A6 hybrid will follow at a later date; it combines the power of a large V6 with the fuel efficiency of a four-cylinder unit. A number of drivetrain options are also available. The Audi drive select dynamic handling system for all TFSI and TDI versions has been expanded to include an additional mode – the “efficiency” program.
JFR would like to wish you a happy holiday season.

In 1987 group B rally was banned, many new solutions were being proposed. The one solution that was being discussed the most was the new group A car, for Audi this would be the Audi 200 Quattro. It was absolutely huge and heavy and was of the most unfavorable design to turn into a rally car, let alone a winner. Even its drivers declared "T" stood for Taxi, not Turbo. To fuel the discussion, Audi had already homologated the 80 Quattro, 90 Quattro and Coupé Quattro into group A, all cars of more favorable shape and all cars privateers choose to stick with to rather than changing to the 200 Quattro as the Audi works team used it. But the "T" was exactly the secret, out of all the potential group A cars Audi had at the time, only the big 200 had a turbo charged engine.
