Ford’s EcoBoost series of engines are my cup of turbocharged tea. Powerful, fuel efficient (at least in comparison to bigger engines with similar horsepower) and with a torque curve flatter than the Bonneville Salt Flats, it is everything an eco-concious gear head like me could want. And I’m not the only one. Gearheads are finding that the EcoBoost engine, including the 3.5 liter V6, has tremendous power potential beyond what Ford has limited themselves to. Roush Yates, a famous name from the world of racing engines, are teaming up on an EcoBoost V6 for the 2011 American Le Mans Series. This will give a chance for the EcoBoost to really flex its turbocharged muscles.

    - Target implementation of sounds captures the essence of the brand - How an Audi sounds depends on the individual model and the customer’s expectations

INGOLSTADT, Germany, Aug 11, 2010 - It’s all in the sound – this is especially true for cars from Audi. So-called “sound design” has become one more important component in vehicle development at Audi. You could call it the acoustic calling card of the brand with the four-ring logo. How an Audi should sound depends on the individual model and the customer's expectations. The latest examples of Audi’s active sound design are the Audi S4, Audi S5, Audi A8 V8 FSI, the new Audi TT TDI and TTRS, and the Audi R8 supercar.

One man who is heavily involved in this development is Dr. Ralf Kunkel, Head of Audi Acoustics. He utters some sounds you wouldn’t expect from an engineer, discussing things like the “car as an orchestra,” “the art of composing and conducting,” “good musicians” or “sour notes,” and the “four-ring symphony.” His basic philosophy: “The sound must meet the expectations of the listener. Sound evokes emotions.”

    - Timo Scheider in fourth place is best Audi driver - Mattias Ekström starts from pole but merely takes seventh - Just two Audi A4 DTM cars in the points

INGOLSTADT, Germany, Aug 9, 2010 - It is barely a year ago that Audi celebrated a commanding one-two-three-four victory in the DTM race at the Nürburgring. This time, the title defenders had to settle for places four and seven in the Eifel in front of a crowd of 86,000 spectators (throughout the weekend).

For the first time this season Timo Scheider was the best Audi driver. The reigning DTM Champion pushed forward from eighth to fourth place at the start. When attempting to fight for third, Scheider subsequently lost one position which he managed to recover, though, thanks to quick pit stops by Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline. Finishing the race in fourth place, the two-time DTM Champion just barely missed his first podium result of the year.

    - Timo Scheider wins “Race-4-Kids” - Markus Winkelhock as “Angel in Action” - Mike Rockenfeller at a fitness check

INGOLSTADT, Germany, Aug 5, 2010 - From the Rhineland Evening with delicious specialties from Cologne all the way to a parade of 24 Audi A5 Coupé cars – the spectators at the DTM race at the Nürburgring (August 6 to 8) will get to see a lot from Audi above and beyond racing. One week before their round at the Nürburgring Timo Scheider and Oliver Jarvis contested a celebrity kart race for a charitable purpose. Scheider with his Nintendo team won the “Race-4-Kids” in Friedrichshafen, the proceeds of which go to the “Stunde des Herzens” (“Hour of the Heart”) foundation, in front of 21 other teams. Among the visitors at the event, during which Timo Scheider also did a demo drive with the Audi A4 DTM, was team director Hans-Jürgen Abt.

Markus Winkelhock was engaged in a charitable activity as well, performing the part of an “Angel in Action.” For the German TV show “Engel im Einsatz” hosted by Verona Pooth the Swabian visited a family in Simmern in the Hunsrück region, whose home had been severely damaged by flooding. During his mission the Audi “factory” driver spontaneously invited the victims to the Nürburgring.
